Hi my name is Anthony I live at Airlie beach. I have friends land where I shoot and hunt. Iv always had working dogs back in England and trained all my own dogs. From labs for retrieving birds and a Little with sheep dogs. I'm new to the this form of hunting, I do have friends that do this kind of hunting and there willing to help me out, but I want to learn as much as I can. I have a 11 week old pup. Sire Bulldog x Bullarab Dam catahoula.

Anything would be much appercied thanks

bullarab AND! catahoula in it, will be a cracker haha.

i find apart from general obedience the best thing to start with is stock proofing. once its old enough to sorda keep up then start running it with working dogs. you have had working dogs so you should pick it up easy in regards to training the dog. The other side of it is understanding pigs and their behaviour, where they are likely to be at a certain time. This sort of knowledge will come from experience, talking to other blokes. loads of helpful stuff on this site, have a read through.

Thanks aussiedogger69,  was you joking about having them two crossed can you see trouble with that? yeah that it just need to get out with the boys as much as i can. i know where the pigs are on the land i shoot. there is only me on there and do well with them, that why i went for a leggy dog and im looking forward to run a dog on the open ground. Yeah looking at doing some stock and roo proofing with him. same with my gun dog back at home
