New To Pigging..

Recommended Posts

run with experienced well trained dogs, but first train and establish control over the dog and sort out stock proofing.

Have your own areas to hunt on as well, expecting to be taken everywhere on the back of someones elses hard work to gain access to a property will not get you far.

Ned Makim has a book out which may be useful to a beginner to help with gaining a bit of an understanding of the dog. He is on here under dogmann or on facebook under Ned Makim.

Also familierise yourself with the laws and regulations of hunting pigs with dogs for your state and area. for example hunting pigs with lugging dogs is illegal in Victoria and you would need to do it in NSW.

Great, thanks Mick. Dog is stock proof for cattle and sheep, we have both and a bit of ground to run around on. My girlfriend has a habit of picking up orphan lambs so he has grown up with them running around the back yard. Thanks for the tip on lugging in Vic.. I'll just have to find some dogs to run him with, as you mentioned they have to be well trained so no bad habits are picked up. Thanks for your help...
