jimmyhunter
Hi all, Ive been a keen shooter and bowhunter for 10 years now, and have recently had my first experiences dogging pigs. I absolutely loved it! Best time I have had in ages. I have a young purebred kelpie bitch who is looking promising as a finder / bailer, but she needs more time in the field. Im from Sydney and work in defence. I have my r licence and shooters licence, but am having trouble finding mates to go hunting with. If anyone lives close by and is keen to give a young fit guy and his pup a run on weekends - please let me know!! Thanks, Jimmy Quote Link to comment

arnold
Hi jimmy i am new here too. i am pretty keen on taking up some bow hunting in my adventures, i am concerned on how effective can you be with a bow though? what sort of range and what can be included in your prey?? jimmyhunter
Hi Mate, Assuming you have the correct gear and have put in the time and practise, you should be able to effectively hunt anything with a compound bow that you can with a rifle. I would suggest maximum effective range is 40 meters, but the closer the better. I would also say that if you are using dogs - you cant use a bow. Its far too risky when you have dogs on your pigs. Stick with your trusty knife or a rifle. Quote Link to comment
