PEGSY338
Howdy All, new to your site. Was looking for some info on the DC30 Garmin collars and got directed to this forum. Live in South/East Victoria and religously hunt the Elusive Sambar Deer with our pack of Bloodhounds and Beagles. Have another couple of dogs used for chasing dog meat, Staghound/Mastiff x Great Dane, and a Pittbull x Smithfield Terrier. Will be intersted to see how your site runs and hopefully get involved in some of your Topics. Dont know if this is the place to start asking questions or not? If not point me in the right direction. Quite a few pig hunters i have spoken to are using the Garmin DC30 collars and Aspro trackers. How do you find them in steeper terrain, and what sort of range are you getting before losing track of your dogs? Looking forward to your responses. Cheers Quote Link to comment

ripsnorta99
Welcome champ.. as you are a hound hunter - im not sure if the garmin will have the range that you will need.. look into it carefully.. 1 or 3km might not be enough.. you are probably also aware that the Aspro is illegal to use in Australia.. that is not stopping a lot of guys though. i hope they dont get prosecuted for their sake.. i guess it is a buyer beware scenario.. best of luck with your purchase anyway.. Havent tried them on the hounds yet, but have tried them on the dog food chasers and have found them to work very well to about 1.5km in some fairly average terrain. Been way to dry and dusty down here for the last few weeks to take the deer chasers out. It is only illegal if you caught. Quote Link to comment
