Dalbyfox Posted September 9, 2008 Report Share Posted September 9, 2008 Hi all this is going to be a bit of a long winded intro please hang in there with me I'm from North Yorkshire and into hunting, fishing and a bit of shooting I follow our local pack of foxhounds on horseback and on foot with the terrierman I have terriers and hunt rats, rabbits and fox with them The UK economy is real poor and hunting laws have just about knocked our sport completely so we are in the initial process of emigration - me, the wife and 3 kids I thought it best to try and find out more about Australia than just talk to folks over here I got an insight into pig hunting from a NZ guy I met in Ireland of all places - sent me off with some Pighunter mags and it is something that i want to get into Now that we have decide to upsticks i want to ensure that wherever we end up i can enjoy my free time to the full I dont expect being able to get a job too difficult - but perhaps some of you could help steer me i work in construction - specialising in structural timber frame - design, manufacture, site erection, project management ive been self employed for 25years and wouldnt mind going back on the tools for the right job in the right location If any of you have any help or advise it will be much appreciated - job wise, location wise, sport wise - we are country folk and have been used to have no near neighbours meanwhile I will have a good read through all of these posts and topics cheers and thanks for reading to the end Tom Quote Link to comment
Staghound Posted September 9, 2008 Report Share Posted September 9, 2008 Gday mate Western australia is booming at the moment in construction and mining you may be able to get work up norht, but bear in mind bout the top 2/3 of australia is as hot as hell and may be the death of you down the southern coast is cooler Quote Link to comment
Dalbyfox Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Share Posted September 9, 2008 thanks staghound we've been looking around the queensland / nsw border to start with you're spot on with the north - i'd freekin frazzle work wise you are right about western - seems to be loads of construction jobs on offer how wide spread is pig hunting? looking on this site is seems there are folks from all over aus. we are doing our research upto xmas and then come over for a good look any more input from others would be appreciated thanks again Quote Link to comment
