Hello, I'm interested in sighthounds, looking forward to learning more from the users here. I'm particularly interested in peoples experiences training a new pup without the help of an older dog.

To add some context - I hunt mostly for dog meat and I'm bored with shooting. I find it dull, noisy and generally unpleasant. (No offense to those who like it, just my own opinion.) I've trained plenty of sheep and cattle dogs, so I have a fair idea on training dogs, but I've never trained a hunting dog before. I'm sure it would be easier to start with a trained dog, but I'm keen to train a pup as I've always found dogs which were trained by someone else never work as well for me. I guess everyone has their own way of doing things and what works for one human or dog, won't necessarily work for another.

Ive always had a working dog 2 teach my pups even when I started hunting 17 odd year's ago with my uncle and his dogs but im sure there will b some1 on here that might have some ideas for u champ
