Don't agree Miccatacon, you should be able to hunt multiple game and still have your dog fully stock proof, it might jump at the wrong thing occasionally but it should pull up when it realises what it's done. As for training your dogs to hunt pigs only that should be easy as. Maybe try a different breed of dog, I personally don't think Staffies are good for pig hunting, too thick and hard to train, they might be ok in a mix but not as a pure bred, but that's just my opinion. As for the first question, a rifle and a missus will get you what you want, don't know if you're going to find a dog that can do all those things though!

Depends what you are hunting too, staffy's are stupid enough and tough enough for pigs, although probably a bit slow unless you only let them out on the pig. The wolfhound cross would probably fix that though.

To be honest it seems to be a bit of a grey area, and one that the public servants won't readily offer up advice on as you have found out. My understanding of it is this, you are allowed to hunt pest animals with dogs as long as the dog can affect a quick and relatively humane kill. You are not allowed to set the dog onto another animal for sport etc as you have said, and it is illegal to be cruel to any animal. If you plan on hunting foxes with dogs then it is probably best to have a dog that is large enough to be able to kill the fox quickly. Rabbits and rats can be hunted with smaller dogs. I might be wrong with some of this as I don't use dogs on foxes, but that's my understanding of things, others will know more.
