  1. hey yer brissy does suck im on the southside in crestmead it a bit from the city tho umm yer are u from up here

im out near ippy. we have a property but only pigs on it are domestic, we got no where local to go, just head out west to st george once in a blue moon when work allows, sucks now the old dog is dead and we only have pups, didnt matter if he didnt get regular work still nailed them every time. oh well, thats life hey, work to live and u end up living to work, no time.

  2. best stock proof your dogs first mate, went out with a fella that told tha same story as yours, let his pitty cross of the lead once pigs were sighted and other dogs were on their way, well he couldnt get a hold so high tailed it and grabbed the nearest calf instead.

Good on ya for being honest about your dogs though mate, there is a thread here somewhere that will give you some pointers on stock proofing your dogs.

  3. Hey everyone, ive been joined onto this site for a while now. but never really do a great deal of posting. Just thought id re introduce myself

My names dion, and im a 16 year old that lives in cairns.. I got a 14 month pitbull/ridgeback/american staffy/bull arab that i have taken out a few times and am starting to train up. Hes a great dog, and good temperment..

Im in year 12, and as you all know at the end of the year there is the whole 'schoolies' scene. Im not really one to see the purpose of spending thousands of dollars on a week i wouldnt remember so lately i have been think at the end of the year a pigging trip would be a good idea. Of course, the first one that pops into mind is up to the cape and im just wondering how hard it is to get properties to camp and hunt of up there, and what sort of costs it is to do this sort of a hunt.. and how other people have done theres

my best mate is pincho off this site from narrabri, so id be bringing him along with me and we'd have possibly two or three dogs and a 2 compound bows

any suggestions as to how to pull off this once in a life time hunting/camping trip to celebrate 12 years of school please let us know

cheers, dion. and i hope to meet some of you over the upcoming holiays i got

good idea dion, cant help ya with costs and places though. hopefully someone else can

  4. gday gary and welcome.

Make sure you have basic obedience down pat with your dogs before you introduce them to pigging. People often have dramas starting older dogs esp when their prey drive overrides their reward drive (ie want to please you) and you have two very intelligent but also hard headed breeds there. sorry im not real good with the proper terms.

Enjoy and good luck with your dogs mate!!

  5. I don't think i was up you but i remember everyone going off because you belted him. Poor sooks need to get a taste of the real world.

'Girl' is a real big dog, don't know if she has been tried on pigs or not, but she is a smart dog. i'll show ya photos of the pups when i get them :)

noooo dont show me that would be just cruel!!!

  6. But if one of us said it we would be run down!

Yeah Bek he is a wicked dog, he would be 3 now, and he has sired a litter. the bitch is 3/4 mastiff 1/4 wolfhound, pups were born about a week ago, yet to see pics or any details about them, am very excited, one will most likely come to live with me but probably from the next litter as i'm about to move again.

You recon, im always in trouble lol? i still remember way back when pooch started loosing the plot i copped a hammering for saying i give him a hiding and im pretty sure u guys were even up me lol.

they sound like real nice i shall shut my eyes and ears as i am all dogged out, he reminds me of my old boy

  7. Hi all. I live near Gatton/Ipswich with my 2 kids 3 if you count OH, and quite a menagerie.

I grew up chasing hogs and has always been a favourite pastime of mine. We dont have anywhere to go hunting around here but we go out west as often as work allows.

i recently lost my 3/4 wolfhound 1/4 boxer dog due to health complications from old age and am still adjusting to the fact, he was the most awesome family pet, best mate, and working pig dog. i wouldnt have run in eight months pregnant to roll a pig B) with any other i trusted him completley. he was the most insaneley loyal dog i have ever owned. he was a spittin image of hannah in the Makim dogs section as was his mother. i currently have a bull arab bitch who belongs to a friend and is livin with me while he is away, i bred her to my dog (with his permision of course) before he was pts and i have his one and only litter due next week.

Her name is macey and is the most beautiul natured dog, and an awesome worker, she loves the kids and is always happy go lucky.

when i first met OH he was a blue dog man, but i turned him haha, he now owns a bull arab bitch named remi, she is very boystrous and hard but kind natured and also very loyal, she hasnt been started yet, we went out to st george in qld over new years to start her but it was too wet to get around. her dad is an awesome looking dog and she is turning out just like him.

we have just taken over the lease on 450 acres near Ipswich where we will be running agistment for horses, and some cattle. we also have just bought some panels for pig pens so will breed a few domestics for the freezer.

looking forward to getting to know you all, been meaning to join for ages.
