  1. And my guess is SH is staghound

lol yeah probably is, dunno why I didn't make that connection. Just saw SH and thought for a second what he could mean, then saw D is next to S on keyboard so assumed a typo. Just never really see staghounds called SH, usually 'stag', whereas DH and WH are often used.
  2.  Welcome to the forum.

Do you mean WHxDH? As in wolfhound deerhound? Most blokes here probably wouldn't call that a roodog, with roodogs being a similar type but usually smooth coated. Some might call it a staghound, but the most common usage of staghound is for a greyhound crossed with usually a deerhound, but greyXwolfhound as well, or the result of breeding those types over generations. Not a strict rule, but that's what seems common usage.

There is a sub-forum here dedicated to the running dogs as you've probably seen (to comment there you might need to post another comment here first). The Vic guys often breed dogs similar to what you are after, or know of people not on the forums who have pups/dogs, but its not a constant thing, so you might have to wait a few months to get what you are after.

  3. Thanks mate I thought they might have been banned out here, would u know of another breed similar to the dogo that's good for pig chasin n lugs up hard

Some of the Bull Arab strains are pretty close to the dogo in breeding and appearance (dogo looks a bit more bulldoggy) and most if not all would probably perform similarly. A performance/Scott type American Bulldog should also perform pretty well on pigs and even more closely resembles the dogo in the looks department.

  4. Hi all,

New member from NSW. Currently we have a cross breed bitch pup that is about 4-5 months old; not sure if we will use her on pigs (or other game) yet, or if she will just be companion/protection dog.

I am also interested in obtaining a staghound type dog in the future, and heard that this is the place to go to on that front. After something like a staghound 'line' dog, or a wolfhound/deerhound/borzoi cross greyhound, or something with a bit of non sighthound blood. Dog would be used on rabbits, hares and foxes (which I have easy access to hunt locally), and possibly pigs. Not keen to pick up anything yet, just after info for now, and see what people are breeding etc.

    Cheers
