Guest blackdoglifesaboar
Hi all, im looking at getting a new light for the roof mount in the cruiser and i want the best, brightest one there is, so opinons please...?? i mainly shoot roos around the north west but also chase a few pigs. I.ve Had the 9" powabeam 11" powabeam and the lightforce 240 all non HID. and i recently upgraded the 240 to HID but dont think its all that good considering a mate jumps on the back from time to time with his standard 9" powabeam and it goes further than my hid 240. So i want to know if anyone has had experience with the new Powabeam 11" HID and wat its like. I'm also considering the orange nighteater light ive heard there pretty good but are not HID. Just trying to work out which way to go for the best brightest and longest distance light. looking forward to hearing your feedback Quote Link to comment
pincho
Mate iv got the powerbeam 11" in HID and it's bright, if you spot light small paddocks its to bright. Good for big open paddocks. Saying that the powerbeam 9" HID is almost as bright some even say the 9" is brighter but yeah. I find the 11" is deffeniatly a bright light and good for spotlighting pigs cause the stand out more with HID. Quote Link to comment

brianA
I sent my brother in law around to see the night eater man. He has some of the best lights in the world. If you ever get the chance to check him out I would he is Victoria. They specialise in search lights. He will run you through the lights has has and you can compare he has a milo tin light that has to be seen to be believed. My brother in law took the 9" standard power beam and there was no comparision to the nighteater's. Night eater man advises it's all in the reflector that's what makes the difference. The two biggest drawbacks with Night eater's are the price and the time it takes to get one. 1 Quote Link to comment

Stew S
I've got an 11 inch powabeam hid its good but too heavy would buy the 9 inch. Had to have the reflector replaced the chrome started flaking off they replaced it free of charge, other than that it's been a good light Quote Link to comment

morgs
something hid mate... seem to be the spotty to go with at the moment Quote Link to comment
brack
HID is the way to go. I have a pair of lightforce XGTs on the front of the ute and after shooting with the hid I find it hard to drive home with the XGTs no where near the powa beam hid I had a standard powa beam 9inch and there a good light but the HID is the go once ya get used to shooting under the different light. I love shooting foxes with it they are so much clearer and easier to see them even when they dont look at the light there easy to make out. Quote Link to comment
rooboy
Night eater hands down even at the price they will out last a number of power beam if your using professionaly so I was told by a roo shooter my old man has the night eater driving lights on his truck and they dont seem to dull down over time like other lights Quote Link to comment

They take a bit first time turned on to hit full brightness around the 30 sec some less some a touch more Once they are warmed up and you turn them off then on again it more or less straight away Never an issue with mine you get to we're your ready to put the light on that short warm up time is nothing Never got somewhere and had a pig in the light within 30 sec lol wish I did Cheers Quote Link to comment

chriss088
Whats the go, I'm a bit behind with this sort of stuff, hasn't the world moved to LED stuff with lights? Or is it still too pricey for serious spotlights? Quote Link to comment

Or is it still too pricey for serious spotlights? they wont be to far away mate still cant get the distance that you can with normal spotlights reckon they will be about in the next few years sbake racing and a few other mobs make light bars to mount on the front of ya car and they are pretty good and some of the torches ya can get now days are better than hand held spotlights i was using 15 years ago Quote Link to comment
jastan
Anyone used a longreach??? one of my mates has one awesome light turns night to day takes about 30 sec's to warm up but its fine after that Quote Link to comment
Tristan_
Go HID and don't go above a 9". I had the Powabeam 11" HID and my god you could spot pigs from miles away. Useless for roo shooting as it moves too much unless you will always have a 2nd person in the car to hold it for you. Get a Nigheater they are worth the coin Quote Link to comment
